Apollo® 25% Price Reduction

Calgary, AB (February 15, 2011) – Makhteshim Agan of North America, Inc. (MANA) announces the 25 percent price reduction of Apollo ovicidal miticide for use in strawberry, raspberry and tree fruit crops, and for outdoor deciduous and ornamental nursery species. This will allow growers effective mite control at an even better price than before.

Apollo’s 60-80 day residual control offers long residual protection against costly pests including European red mite, two-spotted spider mite and McDaniel spider mite. The early application of Apollo breaks the mite life cycle during egg development. The residual effect will help control the young motile and nymph stages of development. Adult females that contact Apollo lay infertile eggs.

Apollo’s active ingredient, clofentezine, is exclusive to MANA. It has a strong safety record with beneficial insects, and due to its highly selective action on targeted species, it is ideal for use as a primary miticide in IPM programs. In some crops, Apollo can be applied as late as 15 days before harvest.

The efficacy of Apollo is greatest when applied in spray water with a pH range from 5.5 to 6.5. For pH levels greater than 7.0, MANA strongly recommends adjusting the pH level so that it falls within the recommended range. The proven penetrating surfactant LI 700® is recommended for pH adjustment as it is safe in fruit crops.
