We have you covered. Overall 240 SC controls Sclerotinia stem rot and Alternaria black spot in canola, at a fair price.
Return on investment: Research on canola shows that Sclerotinia stem rot can devastate yield. An Argentine canola field with 50 percent main stem infection can suffer a yield loss of 25 percent. With value pricing, Overall increases your return on investment by controlling Sclerotinia and Alternaria to produce higher yield and quality.
Group 2 mode of action: Overall, with the active ingredient iprodione, is a dicarboximide fungicide with protective and eradicant activity.
Sclerotinia forecasting: Fungicide control of Sclerotinia stem rot in canola is not effective once the symptoms are observed. Research indicates fungicide application may be justifiable if field scouting indicates disease levels will reach 15 percent in Argentine-type canola. Use forecasting tools to predict the need for fungicide applications.
Resistance management: Group 2 fungicides have a medium to high risk of developing fungicide insensitivity. To help manage insensitivity, use a Sclerotinia-forecasting tool to reduce unnecessary applications, and rotate Overall and other Group 2 fungicides with fungicides in other groups to control the same disease.
Alternaria control: Overall also protects against Alternaria black spot in canola. Research has shown fungicide application at 95% flowering provides yield increases from 9 to 36%.
Easy to use: Conveniently packaged in 2 x 8.4-litre cases. One case treats 13.5-20 acres.
Application and Use Guidelines:
Check the label for rates and complete recommendations.
| Crop | Diseases | Timing |
|---|---|---|
| Canola | Sclerotinia stem rot, Alternaria black spot* | Apply 0.85 to 1.25 L/acre at the 20 to 50% bloom stage. Best protection is achieved at 20 to 30% bloom. This will be prior to petals beginning to fall, and will allow for the maximum number of petals to be protected. Overall can be applied until the 50% bloom stage. This will be when the canola crop is at its maximum yellow colour, and prior to significant petal fall. |
| Canola | Alternaria black spot (control) | Apply at the early green pod stage with the 1.25 L/acre rate, or as split applications of 0.43 L/acre at 20 – 50% bloom followed by 0.43 L/acre at early green pod stage. If a spray of 0.85 to 1.25 L/acre has been applied at 20 – 50% bloom, this will also control Sclerotinia stem rot. |
| Alfalfa** (grown for seed) |
Sclerotinia stem rot | Apply as a single application of 0.85 to 1.25 L/acre when the crop is in the 20 to 50% bloom stage. |
*Suppression
**Overall is registered for alfalfa in Western Canada only.
Cover ground fast: Apply with a minimum of 40 L/acre for ground application to achieve optimum plant coverage. Apply a minimum of 18 L/acre by air in canola only.
For best results: The 0.85 L/acre is the recommended rate for most canola crops; however, the higher rate is recommended for fields with a history of severe disease pressure and dense crop stands. Good coverage of the plants is essential.
For Alternaria control, the early green pod stage is when almost all canola pods are fully formed and still green with only a few flowers or undeveloped pods remaining at the top of the plant.
Beat the weather: Delay spraying if rainfall is imminent, and do not apply immediately after a rainfall.
Good stewardship: Do not make more than 2 applications per season. Observe a pre-harvest interval of 38 days.
